Open Arms Preschool

At Concordia we believe all persons should participate in Christian Education. We believe it is especially important for children. This is why Open Arms Preschool strives for excellence in children education. Concordia's Open Arms® Christian Child Development Center (CCDC) is a preschool for 2 through 5 years old, offering half-day sessions 2, 3, or 4 times per week.

Our program is dedicated to making the love of Jesus real in the lives of all people by sharing with each child and their parents God's unconditional love.At Open Arms each child is guided to develop his/her potential in every aspect of life within the shelter and nurturing relationship of Christian love. We operate our center valuing each child as an individual who must be allowed to grow and learn at his/her own rate and to develop a healthy self-image.

Curriculum

Open Arms uses the Creative Curriculum which is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. We emphasize cognitive learning methods where children learn through first-hand sensory experiences of feeling, listening, tasting, smelling, and observing; they handle and manipulate, experiment and explore. Specific planned activities promote their social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. Proper guidelines, rules, and routines ensure that the children can feel safe and secure.

Size of Groups

Group size is based on directives set by the Maryland State Department of Education. These directives reflect the children's ages and development. Our class sizes are never bigger than 14 students, and each class has a teacher and an aide. All teachers will be qualified and trustworthy individuals trained and/or experienced in early childhood development and education. Open Arms Preschool is required by the Maryland State Department of Education to complete a background check on each and every employee hired by the Center as well as individuals who are frequently in the Center.

Facility

Our facility was built by Concordia Lutheran Church specifically for Christian education. Safety, security, and cleanliness are maintained at all times.

Registration Fees

There is a $60.00 (non-refundable) registration fee for new students. This holds your child’s space for 45 days. Prior to acceptance, all of the enrollment forms and the last month’s tuition must be received by Open Arms.

Tuition Fees

May’s tuition (non-refundable) is due at time of enrollment. Tuition is due on the first school day of the month.
