School is starting next week. Micah's bags won't be going home with students until the week of 9/18, but it's time to restock. The Micah's room got a total cleaning and is ready for food. There will be a display set up in the Welcome Center with extra bins for food donations. We need all of the usual items such as mac & cheese, individual peanut butter, snacks, 100%juice boxes etc.

What is needed most at this time, however, is cash donations. The budget from donations last year was smaller to begin with and didn't "grow" much. We are starting this year with less money than we have ever had available from donations. This cash allows us to purchase food from the Maryland Food Bank above the amounts the HARC funding provides. We also often need large amounts of food to supplement food donations. We like to add special treats at the holidays, but wasn't able to last year because there wasn't money available. To donate, write a check to Concordia with the memo line Micah's Backpack and put in the offering plate. Micah's isn't a line item in Concordia's budget and isn't a Mission of the Month. Food and cash donations are what funds the program.

Operation Christmas Child is counting down to the end of October for the collection of filled boxes. Empty boxes can be picked up under the coat rack in the Community room stairwell lobby. Some suggested items to fill the boxes are: school supplies, personal care items, craft or activity items, toys or games, doll or stuffed animal, clothing items. If you would like a pillowcase dress to add to a girl’s box, the Mission Stitchers can provide one. Check with Sylvia Shives or leave a note with your request in her mailbox. Please bring finished boxes by October 31. They will be delivered to the pickup point in early November

Summer Sunday School is underway: Mr. Tim is leading the younger students in the Community Room, and Jesse Lowery is leading the older students in the Luther Room. Adult classes continue Sunday mornings. Additional special activities will be announced.

A comprehensive study of the Book of Revelation led by Pastor Mark begins Sunday, June 21 in the Sanctuary. If you've always wanted to understand Revelation but were afraid to ask, now's your chance. Sundays, 9:30–10:30 AM.

Check out the new library display on the table outside the Outreach Center, highlighting contemporary Christian authors. Pick one out and enjoy — new books are added often.

Thank you to an unknown person for paint-striping the parking lot. With the full resurfacing postponed to 2027, the fresh striping improves both safety and the look of the property until the larger project is completed next year.

More than 60 children filled the church for a week of stories, crafts, games, snacks, and Bible exploration, led by a wonderful team of volunteers. Thank you to everyone who planned, served, and prayed — the Lord blessed us with a joyful week.

Concordia's disaster-response volunteers completed a successful deployment, putting hands and feet to our care for neighbors in need. Additional deployments are anticipated later in the summer and fall.

Fourteen youth gathered for our spring lock-in — a great night of fellowship and fun.

The Chair Basketball game drew 30 enthusiastic participants across 6 teams, won by the 'Globo Gym Cobras.' It was the first time the tournament was held outdoors.

The Men of Concordia travel to the Outer Banks of North Carolina May 2-9, 2026 for a week of fellowship, study, fishing, and rest, staying in an elevator-equipped beachfront rental for accessibility. The congregation is asked to pray for the men through May 9 as they study and meditate together.

The Chair Basketball Tournament, held April 18 with five-player teams and a sandwich lunch, drew 30 participants across 6 teams in its first outdoor edition; the 'Globo Gym Cobras' (Aubrey Davidson, Dory Brown, Katy Hector, Dillon Flanary, Daniel Cartwright) won gold trophies.
