Eight men, including Pastor Mark, Sam and Evan Moretz, Mark Eberly, Tim Buss, Dave Bouffard, Don Enterline, and Jesse Lowery, attended the SED Disaster Response Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC (early Feb 2026), covering LERT/chainsaw training, Stop the Bleed, tarping, and a Hurricane Helene round-table.
An ingathering of personal-care products at the Advent/Christmas luncheon collected 122 items for Hagerstown Community College's Care Cupboard for students.
LCEF's Interest Time magazine ran three articles on restoring Camp Linn Haven, NC — including 'A Stranger, a Chainsaw and a Plan' — highlighting the disaster-response work Concordia's chainsaw team took part in.
Concordia's Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) chainsaw team made repeated disaster-response deployments to North Carolina, including a week at Camp Linn Haven in Linville/Hendersonville in August 2025 (with Pastor Mark shadowing trainers to become the SED Northern Region chainsaw trainer) and another NC trip in October 2025 (Pastor Mark, Evan, Mark Bell, Mark Eberly). Earlier, Pastor Mark and son Evan represented the team in Asheville after Hurricane Helene flooding (Oct 2024).
Concordia hosted a Basic LCMS Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training class on Saturday, August 17, 2024 (9am–2pm), introducing participants ages 14–90 to disaster response and providing a manual, ID badge, and T-shirt.
The April mission grant 'Upheld by God's Hand' supports the LCMS Task Force for Mental Illness in developing mental-health outreach training materials for church workers.
Concordia supports Orphan Grain Train: an international container shipment to South Sudan was scheduled March 15, 2024 (potentially including the congregation's prior-fall donations), and OGT's monthly newsletter later featured Diane Braun, Nancy Flicek, Sara Hilmer, and Marge Ziegler at the warehouse with delivered items.
Deaconess Melissa Pflug, a seminary classmate of Beverly Walling, was commissioned September 15, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church as a regional care coordinator across 20+ European countries and parts of Asia, and spoke at Concordia about the work on October 5–6, 2024.
